ILAM, Aug 20: Police have arrested the military commander and spokesperson of Limbuwan State Force, a little known underground armed outfit operating in the eastern hill districts.

Police arrested Netra Limbu, 31, a.k.a. Khambeksa Limbu from Dharampur VDC-7, Jhapa on Thursday. He was brought to District Police Office, Illam on Friday.

The armed outfit had looted weapons from police personnel after storming Sakaphara police outpost in Bajho VDC-6, Chisapani Panchami on July 31. The group has been claiming that it is fighting for a Limbuwan autonomous state.

According to police, the same outfit was behind the torching of the Village Development Committee Office in Satasidham, Jhapa some two months ago.

Chief of Ilam District Police Office Bikram Bahadur Chand said they are preparing to file a case under the Arms and Ammunition Act. He claimed that some 15-20 persons are operating the armed outfit.
