KATHMANDU, March 23: The Department of Foreign Employment has released UCPN (Maoist) leader Lharkyal Lama on a bail bond of Rs 3 million on Wednesday.
He is facing fraud charges over foreign employment. Lama, who was initially arrested after 14 rounds of bullets were found in his bank locker last week, was released by the Kathmandu District Administration Office on Tuesday, but was arrested as soon as he was released by the police on charges related to fraud.

According to the police, a case was registered against Lama by Kesh Bahadur Gurung, the president of Opportunity Manpower Services, stating that Lama had swindled Rs 21.9 million from different people under the pretext of finding them lucrative job offers abroad.
Lama was arrested last week after the Commission for the investigation of Authority (CIAA) found 14 bullets in his bank locker. The anti-graft body has also been intensifying investigations into Lama's properties which it says is disproportionate to his known source of income.
