The substantial difference between LED and LCD is that, inside the television, the LCDs use CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) inside the television whereas LEDs use LED (Light-Emitting-Diode) bulbs. But a bulb is not what makes a huge difference between LEDs and LCDs in the market regarding its charm and the price as well.

LED televisions are interactive as the computers are to the users. The features of LED TV depends upon the company of production but in general LED TV has changed the image from showing what the broadcasters broadcast to a smarter device with many more additional features.

LED TV has internet facilities and some LEDs come with built-in WiFi facility. The installed application in the televisions supports music, videos and games. The LEDs have USB port to intake the external data and play it through the screen.

Some LEDs have installed DVD drive on the screen and some come with camera on top of the screen that supports the video chats. Likewise, it has wireless technology to transfer files from mobile or PC. These TV sets have power saving mode to save energy. These features make LED television more superior than the LCD television.

Sony, Samsung, Phillips and LG have already launched LED television in the Nepali market. LED has recently been introduced as LED 3D television to facilitate the three dimensional image.

“We enjoyed more than 80 percent market share of LED TV last year,” said Amitesh Roy, the marketing communication manager of Him Electronics -- the authorized dealer of Samsung Consumer Electronics in Nepal.

Him Electronics was the first company to introduce LCD and LED televisions in the Nepali market.

Another celebrated brand Sony is also focusing on the sales of LED televisions. “We are making sure that we maintain a proper stock of LEDs with us because we have not felt the pressure so far,” said Ramesh Bista, the general manger of Nepa Hima Trade Link, the authorized dealer of Sony for Nepal.
