Leaders for commission to sort out disputes on demarcation

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Leaders of major political parties have come up with the opinion of guaranteeing a Commission in the new constitution itself to sort out disputes surfaced in course of determining the model of federalism.

Taking part in an interaction program organized by the Reporters' Club here Saturday, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said the provision of a Commission to look into the challenges in the demarcation of federal units could be ensured in the constitution. There was no situation to bring the draft constitution which was already in the CA to the Constitutional Committee. He was in view of promulgating the constitution keeping aside the contentious issues.


CPN-UML Secretary Pradeep Gyawali stressed that no delay be made in delivering the constitution. Disputes in the demarcation of federal units could be crystalized with the formation a Commission, he seconded leader Lekhak.

UCPN (Maoist) Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma said demands could be addressed through talks and dialogues. He was in view of carving out eight provinces while federating the country.

Civil Society leader Dr Sundarmani Dixit called for keeping the matters of federalism in pending and promulgating the constitution on time. RSS
