“We said that we will conduct serious homework taking sufficient time before sixth round of election if next election fails to choose new Prime Minsiter,” Maoist vice-chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha said after the meeting.
Speaker Nemwang said that he drew attention of the leaders towards the financial crisis in case there is no budget session. “I told them that if the budget is not presented before September 16 and approved by parliament immediately, there will be a serious financial crisis,” Nemwang said.
On Friday, Finance Minister Surendra Pandey had informed Nembang that the present financial arrangements made through the introduction of a special budget could address country´s basic financial needs only for one more month.
Pandey had drawn Nembang’s attention toward the impending financial crisis that the nation might face due to delay in bringing annual budget in the absence of new government following the prime minister´s resignation.
Earlier in July, the parliament had endorsed a proposal for a special budget tabled by Finance Minister Surendra Pandey that allowed the caretaker government to spend up to Rs 110.21 billion.
Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress’ acting president Sushil Koirala and CPN-UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal also participated in the meeting also attended by leaders of Madesh-based parties among others.
