KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Socialist Party Nepal's Federal Council Chair Dr Baburam Bhattarai has insisted that Dalit community should unite for a guarantee of further rights by institutionalizing the achieved ones.
In his address a program organized here today to announce the formation of Socialist Dalit Liberation Federation by merging the Federal Socialist Shilpi Federation and Dalit Shakti Nepal, the former Prime Minister said though the Constitution had guaranteed the rights of Dalit, there was still a risk of losing them, calling upon the Dalits to fight collectively to secure their positions.

He was of the view of ending historic caste-based discrimination against the Dalit pushed backward economically, socially and culturally through education and the increase of the level of public awareness against it. The State should take special measures to bring the principle of inclusion and proportional representation into practice, he asserted.
The program also elected a new executive committee under the leadership of Khim Bahadur Bishwakarma. The committee comprises Min Bahadur Pariyar, Chameli Das, Sunita Marik, Som Bahadur Nepali and Lal Bishwakarma as vice-chairs while Rana Bahadur Ramtel is the general secretary.
Shanta Ghatani (Pradeep) and Bhadraman Mote are deputy general secretaries on the committee which comprises Sunil Bishwakarma, DB Nepali, Chandra Bishwakarma, Arjun Ram, Hom Bahadur Nepali and Indira Khati as secretaries. Chanchala Parajuli is a treasure and Bhakta Bahadur Darnal is a joint-treasurer. On the occasion, newly elected chair Bishwakarma pledged to dedicate himself to the causes of the Dalit community.
