LAMAHI (DANG), Oct 4: The Tharuhat Tarai Party on Thursday formally united with the Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic).

Addressing a function organized at Lamahi, Dang Tharuhat Tarai Party Chairman Laxman Tharu formally announced merger of his party with Bijya Kumar Gachchhadar-led MPRF (D). Tharu had formed the party after splitting from the ruling UCPN (Maoist) a few years ago. [break]

In a mass rally organized in Deukhuri to welcome new members in the party, Tharu said the MPRF (D) can now fight alone for the cause of marginalized groups, Madhesis, and Indigenous nationalities. "We do not want to see a fragmented Nepal. Some anti-federalist forces are alleging that we are trying to divide the country”," he said.

Stating that the newly formed party would not allow any force to divide the country, Tharu warned, “We are ready for bloodshed if any force attempts to divide the country.”

On the occasion, Yogendra Chaudhary, a senior leader of Federal Democratic Forum, joined the MPRF (D).

Addressing the function, MPRF (D) Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar stressed on the need for working together for the rights of Tharus, Dalits, indigenous nationalities and Madhesi people.

“We need to establish ourselves as a decisive force in the national politics while doing away with the suppression and differences," he said.

Gachchhadar also said that they do not want to form a regional party, but a strong national party.

A similar rally was organized in Dhangadhi, the home district of Laxman Tharu. Hundreds of locals joined MPRF (D) on the occasion. "Our party will act as a bridge between Tarai, mountains and the hills,” he said.
