SOLUKHUMBU, Sept 29: Devastating landslides in Solukhumbu has claimed the lives of five people. According to the local authorities, the landslides in Solududhkunda Municipality ward number 9 and 10 swept away two houses on Sunday.
Among the victims were Lhamu Sherpa, 23, and her seven-month-old son, Phurba Lhopsang Sherpa, from Solududhkunda Municipality-2. Additionally, Rina Tamang, 29, who was visiting a local nursing home, also lost her life when a landslide engulfed the house of Dima Dawa Sherpa.

In another tragic incident, a landslide destroyed the home of Tek Bahadur Magar in ward 10, killing Kabita Magar, 33, and Rupu Magar, 24. The house, made of wood, stones, and mud, could not withstand the ongoing heavy rainfall.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Dwarika Prasad Ghimire, Yangji Sherpa, 62, sustained injuries and is currently receiving treatment at Wongchhu Memorial Hospital in Tapting.
Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation as heavy rains persist in the region, raising concerns about further landslides and casualties.
