CHITWAN, Oct 4: Victims of cooperative scams in Chitwan showed a black flag to the chairperson of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Rabi Lamichhane in his own electoral constituency of Chitwan-2 on Friday.
The cooperative scam victims raised slogans against Lamichhane and showed a black flag when he reached Muglin to participate in the third public hearing program in his own constituency.
Black is bold
While returning after the public hearing, Lamichhane was shown a black flag by the co-operative victims at Muglinbazar. The cooperative victims raised slogans like “Death to cooperative thug”, “Justice for cooperative scam victims”, and “solve our problem”.
Amid the shouting, the police escorted Lamichhane and sent him to his destination. Journalist Rohini Tripathi of Muglin informed that after the protest of cooperative victims, a general clash took place between the cadres of RSP and the general public but the clash was immediately contained.
Following the demonstration, the police immediately seized the black flags. About Rs 130 million was transferred from Chitwan-based Sahara Chitwan Multi-Purpose Cooperative to Gorkha Media, where Lamichhane worked as the Managing Director. The cooperative scam victims met Lamichhane several times and asked him to solve the problem, but they did not get the savings back.
