KATHMANDU, July 7: Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane and all-rounder Dipendra Singh Airee will not play in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka.
Lamichhane and Airee will not be participating in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup this time as they will go to Canada to play in the Global T20 League.
Captain Rohit Paudel said that two players will not play the Emerging Cup after playing the Cricket World Cup Qualifiers in Zimbabwe. Paudel said that he will give opportunities to other players.
The Emerging Team Asia Cup will be held in Sri Lanka from July 13 to 23.
U-19 squad announced, Airee to lead
The Global T20 Canada League will be held from July 20 to August 6 in which Lamichhane and Airee have been selected from Nepal.
Dipendra, who has been selected for a foreign league for the first time, was signed by the Montreal Tigers.
Lamicchane, who has played in the Canadian league twice before, has signed with Surrey Jaguar this time.
The top three teams of the ACC Premier Cup, Nepal, UAE and Oman, will play in the Emerging Teams Asia Cup along with the five test nations. Nepal became the winner of the Premier Cup.
In the Emerging Cup, Nepal is in Group B with Pakistan A, India A and UAE A.
Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Oman are in group A. Nepal will play their first match against Pakistan A on July 14.
Nepal will play the second match against India A on July 17 and the third match against the UAE on July 19. According to CAN, Nepal will soon announce the team for the emerging teams tournament.
