Minister Bhattarai terms Lalitpur as living museum

LALITPUR, Sept 9: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai has termed Lalitpur as a living museum of arts and culture.


Speaking at the inaugural session of four-day SAARC Handicraft Exhibition and Workshop in Lalitpur on Monday, Minister Bhattarai vowed to preserve arts and culture in a bid to promote tourism in Nepal.

"Art, artefacts and culture in Kathmandu Valley including Lalitpur have always mesmerized foreign tourists, making the whole country feel proud," Bhattarai said. 


The Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City Chiribabu Maharjan said his office has been giving priority to the preservation of art and culture in Lalitpur as it is well-known as a unique heritage city around the world. He further added that the local government would focus on cultural tourism in Lalitpur for achieving prosperity. 


There are stalls of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and the Maldives in the exhibition that will last for four days.
