KATHMANDU, April 15: The government has once more extended the deadline for the Commission of Inquiry to resolve the electricity tariff disputes of dedicated and trunk lines.

The deadline extension approved by the Cabinet last Friday gives the commission, led by former Supreme Court Justice Girish Chandra Lal, an additional month to finalize its report.

After the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) cut off the power supply for non-payment of tariffs, the government formed an inquiry commission under the chairmanship of former Justice Lal to resolve the dispute.

The deadline of the Commission has been extended again after failing to prepare the report even within the previously extended deadline. The commission has already taken statements from industrialists and government officials.

The commission consists of the secretaries of the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
