Labour wage rate increases around three percent last year

The wage rate of workers employed in different sectors of the country increased by an average of 2.85 percent last year.

KATHMANDU, May 2: The wage rate of workers employed in different sectors of the country increased by an average of 2.85 percent last year.

According to records maintained by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), the National Salary and Wage Index increased by 2.85 percent as of mid January 2025, compared to the figure in mid-January 2024. In the review period, the wage rates of laborers working in agriculture, forest and fisheries witnessed the highest growth of 4.81 percent, while those in the construction sector grew only by 1.83 percent.
