According to the Department of Roads, the expansion on the south side of the road section has been completed while the construction on the north side is underway. “The work on the south side of the road section was completed right before the start of winter and the construction of the remaining work will start after the end of the cold season,” Engineer Sumit KC of the department said.
This road is one of the major gateways within the Kathmandu Valley. The checkpoint is used to enter the valley from different districts of Bagmati Province, Province 1, and Madhesh Province, causing hours of traffic jams during peak hours. The traffic congestion is expected to decrease after the construction of the road is completed.
