BIRATNAGAR, April 2: The Outgoing Patients Department (OPD) at the Koshi Zonal Hospital (KZH) in Biratnagar, which was shut down for two days following a fracas between students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) and lab technicians, resumed its services on Friday.

The OPD service opened after a tripartite talk among NIT officials, students and lab technicians decided to form a three-member committee to investigate into the fracas and recommended action against the guilty within 30 days.

The investigation committee comprises medical superintendent of KZH Dr Shital Kumar Yadav, lawyer Rupesh Koirala and a member of NIT.

NIT students, who are on a month long field trip at KZH, had thrashed a lab technician Rewati Shapkota after he accused them of mishandling lab equipments. The lab technicians had shut down OPD services since Wednesday demanding action against the culprits.
