Korean tourist found dead

MANANG, Jan 17: A trekker has been found dead along the Annapurna Circuit in Manang. Korean tourist Johnsin, 53, was found dead, informed Chief of Annapurna Conservation Area Project Manang, Lekhnath Gautam.

MANANG, Jan 17: A trekker has been found dead along the Annapurna Circuit in Manang. Korean tourist Johnsin, 53, was found dead, informed Chief of Annapurna Conservation Area Project Manang, Lekhnath Gautam. 


The Korean tourist was found dead somewhere around 200 metres down from Thorong La Pass under the Annapurna trekking route, Gautam informed. According to Chief District Officer Suprabha Dhungel Khanal, it has come to their knowledge that he had turned up to Manang alone without coordination with any agencies.

"Tragic incidents have been occurring with tourists while coming to visit the area without coordination with porters and agencies. Had the tourist come to visit with proper know-how of the area, coordinated efforts could be made for saving the life", she added. As informed, a police team deputed for rescuing the tourist has returned half way due to altitude sickness.
