Of the total 6,586 workers, who passed the Korean language test, 3,631 workers have already left for Korea, while 4,164 have signed job contract with Korean employers. [break]
Ministry of Labor and Transport Management (MoLTM) stated that Korean officials also agreed to extend the validity of Korean Language Test certificate by one year, during a meeting with visiting Nepali delegation led by Labor Minister Mohammad Aftab Alam.
Officials of both the countries held discussion on reducing the cost for Korean job and creating employment opportunities for workers, who return after completing their contract period in Korea.
On the occasion, officials of Human Resource Department Service of Korea held discussions with Nepal officials on enhancing skill of Nepali workers through training and orientation, monitoring of Nepali workers and simplification of job shift system among other issues.
According to officials, the Korean government is positive for providing employment opportunities to Nepali workers also in service sector under the Employment Permit System (EPS). Though Korea has opened five sectors -- service, manufacturing, construction, fishery and agriculture - most of the Nepali workers are employed in agriculture sector.
On the occasion, Nepal officials also agreed to appoint Post Management Officer in Korea to deal with the problems emerging after the workers depart to Korea from Nepal.
