KATHMANDU, July 25: The Community School Management Committee Federation of Nepal has called for an arrangement to elect the School Management Committee (SMC) President from among the guardians.
The Federation made this demand in a memorandum submitted to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City on Monday. It demanded annulment of the provision of the Ward Chair automatically becoming the president of the SMC.
Guardians to be mobilized in school enrollment campaign
Federation President Gunaraj Moktan handed over the memorandum to KMC Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol. Moktan said they handed over the memorandum to the KMC, expressing objection over KMC's decision to dissolve the SMCs.
According to Moktan, Deputy Mayor Dangol has given word that the KMC would hold discussion on the issue raised by the Federation.
KMC has recently made a decision to disband the existing SMC of the community schools within the metropolis and form the SMC under the leadership of the local Ward Chair.
