KMC to provide Rs 2 million in aid to Thame glacier flood victims

KATHMANDU, Aug 24: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has decided to provide Rs 2 million in aid for the relief and resettlement of the victims of the Thame glacier flood in Solukhumbu.


The Metropolitan Disaster Management Committee, chaired by Mayor Balen Shah, decided to provide the financial assistance on Friday.

The aid will support the relief and resettlement efforts for those affected by the flood caused by the bursting of the glacial lake.


On August 17, a flash flood occurred in the Thame River in Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality-5 in Solukhumbu due to a glacial lake outburst, resulting in damage to 20 houses, a school and a clinic.
