In Buddhism, such a crown is worshiped by Bajracharyas and there is a tradition of wearing it on Pancha Abhishek by the Gurus. A controversy erupted over the misuse of a crown of religious significance at a reality rap show.
Discussion was made on this issue and during the discussion, Mayor Shah accepted his mistake and said that he had made a commitment to correct that mistake. For that reason, today Shah in a program conducted at Chusya Bahal, Jyatha Marg, handed over the crown to ‘Guru Dyo Tha:Pa’.
The producer of the show Nephop Ko Shreepech, Sudip Pokharel said that he didn’t have any knowledge about the valuable crown of the Bajracharya community. He added, “We didn’t have much knowledge about the crown. It was put on for sale; we liked it so we bought it. Today, by respecting the community’s culture, in the presence of Mayor Balen and various Buddist communities and organizations, we have returned the crown from the mayor's hands to the Bajracharya Gurus (Buddhist masters).”
Pokharel said that an agreement was made to keep the crown in the Buddhist monastery after chanting the mantras. "They have also blessed our winner, Saimon Bista (Viber). We have ordered another crown with another design for our winner. After a while, we will make that crown public at a press meet,” he said.
