KMC instructs private schools to ensure 10 percent scholarship for students

KATHMANDU, June 7: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has instructed private schools to ensure a minimum of 10 percent scholarship for students up to grade 10.

KATHMANDU, June 7: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has instructed private schools to ensure a minimum of 10 percent scholarship for students up to grade 10.


The KMC’s education department issued a notice on Thursday, directing all private institutional schools within the metropolis to ensure the equitable distribution of scholarships.

As of June 5, as many as 473 institutional schools in the metropolis have furnished the requisite scholarship details following repeated appeals from the KMC.


The metropolis has also disclosed the list of schools committed to providing such scholarships.


Thye KMC has instructed the schools that are yet to submit scholarship details to comply within three days. Those who fail risk being designated as non-operational for the academic session of 2081, with suspension of new enrollment. 


Likewise, the KMC has warned that private schools failing to meet the 10 percent scholarship requirement will face legal repercussions.
