KATHMANDU, July 28: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has issued a three days ultimatum to 23 big taxpayers, asking them to settle their taxes.
The companies failing to pay their taxes within three days will be sealed, according to KMC.
Over 200,000 taxpayers do not regularly pay tax to KMC
KMC visited the offices of these 23 companies and gave them an ultimatum of three days to clear their taxes. These companies are to pay taxes of about Rs 100 million.
If these companies fail to pay their taxes within the given time period, their businesses will be sealed and property withheld, according to Chief Customs Officer at the KMC, Dr Shivaraj Adhikari.
Kantipur Dental Hospital, Chirayu Hospital, Devendra Lal Shrestha, NRT Club, United World Trade Center, Buddhabari Complex, Bagmati Chamber, Kathmandu Engineering College, Nepal Tuberculosis Center, Nepal Red Cross Society, Aadar Complex, National Hospital, Martyrs Memorial Hospital and Agricultural Inputs Company are the companies which have been given three days to pay their taxes.
Likewise, Man Mohan Memorial College and Teaching Hospital, RB Complex, Suraj Arcade, Shuva Shree Co-operatives, Kathmandu Plaza, Nepal Share Market, Gopal G Properties and Star Mall have also been given ultimatums for the same.
