KATHMANDU, Oct 23: The Kathmandu Valley has turned quiet as residents return to their villages to celebrate Bada Dashain. The typically bustling roads of the Kathmandu Valley, perpetually congested with traffic, now present a deserted appearance as the population thins out.
Pedestrians and vehicles can be spotted sporadically, while many shops remain closed. A significant number of workers and car owners have parked their vehicles and gathered at their homes. Consequently, public transportation services are operating only intermittently.

Key areas such as Kalanki, Koteshwar, Balaju, Balkhu, and other major junctions in the Kathmandu Valley appear deserted from today. According to estimates from the Valley Traffic Police Office, around a hundred thousand people depart the Kathmandu Valley daily via these checkpoints. The Traffic Police Office estimates that nearly 1.1 million people have left the Kathmandu Valley.
In preparation for Dashain, the Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Traffic Police have collectively implemented a special security plan to minimize potential accidents and criminal incidents during the festival.
