Kathmandu differently-abled-friendly in a year

KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, CP Mainali, said the government has resolved to make the Kathmandu Valley disabled-friendly in a year.

At a meeting Wednesday of the main organizing committee formed to mark the 24th International Day of Persons with Disabilities, DPM Mainali stressed on everyone's resolve to make Kathmandu Valley disabled friendly. The main organizing committee is led by DPM Mainali comprising representatives from various sectors including civil society and NGOs working for the rights of people with disabilities.Nepal is marking the Day by organizing various programmes on Wednesday.

According to DPM Mainali, the government was ready to bring a separate working policy on the persons with disabilities.

On the occasion, Chairman of the National Federation of Disabled Persons Surdarshan Subedi demanded immediate implementation of the amended Act on Persons with Disabilities. RSS
