When actor Kartik Aaryan was repeatedly spotted at filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office recently, speculations of him working on the Alia Bhatt starrer ‘Gangubai’ started doing the rounds. But a source, who was quoted by a news website, rubbished the reports, calling them “baseless”.

“These reports are baseless. Kartik Aaryan has not been approached to star opposite Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai’,” said the source. Currently, Kartik has multiple films on the cards, and apparently, ‘Gangubai’ is not one of them.

Earlier, while talking about his versatile roles during an interview with Bombay Times, the actor said, “I am doing roles that are different on purpose. I am a fan of commercial entertainers, so my movies are more likely to be in the commercial space, but the priority is for them to have a connect with the audience. There has to be that relatability factor. Whether it is an urban, rural, glamorous or unglamorous character, it needs to be relatable. People need to find themselves in those characters. What I did in ‘Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety’ (2018) was drastically different from Guddu in ‘Luka Chuppi’ (March 2019), or what I will do in ‘Pati, Patni Aur Woh’ (December 2019) as Chintu Tyagi. The physicality of the role can be different, but deep down, the role needs to be relatable.” Kartik is also working on ‘Dostana 2’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’.
