The protesters have vandalized the vehicles of the police and local administrations. However, the political parties have claimed that such vandalism was not carried out by their activists.
Likewise, local agitators vandalized the party offices of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, UCPN(Maoist) and Nepal Majdur Kishan Party, accusing party leaders at central level of working to fulfilled their own motives."Political leaders have failed to understand the sentiments of Karnali people," said Lokendra Giri, one of the activists. He also accused the parties of not managing or providing leadership to the protests in which people from every village have come onto the streets to demonstrate against recent decisions.
Such failure to manage the mass protests effectively may cause chaos in the region, CPN-UML former district secretary Ratan Nath Yogi commented.
A large number of youths also burnt effigies and staged mock public mourning for political leaders including Sushil Koirala, Pushpakamal Dahal, KP Sharma Oli and Bijay Kumar Gacchadar.
In Mugu, political parties and stakeholders, who have been hitting the street demanding a Karnali Autonomous Province, have boycotted a meeting called by the district administration office (DAO) for Friday.
According to Karnali Autonomous Province Struggle Committee, the meeting is a ploy to foil the ongoing movement. The DAO had called the meeting to discuss the demands of the agitators.
Businesses, government and non-government offices and educational institutions have remained closed due to the banda. Hasta Bahadur Malla, coordinator of struggle committee and fformer state minister for education, alleged that the government was forcing the people to take to the streets.
