The new smartphones - A21 and A30 - and tablet - Smart Tab 10 Cosmic - are being distributed in the country by Allied Trade Link International (ATLI), the sole authorized distributor of Karbonn Mobiles for Nepal. [break]ATLI claims Karbonn Mobiles holds the third largest mobile phone market share in Nepal.
Both the smartphones launched by Karbonn on Tuesday come with dual SIM, 1.2 GHz dual core processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich operating system. Other common features on both the phones are: pre-embedded applications, face detecting feature, WiFi, live motion wallpaper and gravity, proximity and light sensor, among others.
But this is where the similarities end.

“The screen on A30 is the largest among smartphones available in the world till date,” said Shashin Devsare, executive director of Karbonn Mobiles.
The Karbonn A30 also has a powerful battery of 2500 mAh, whereas A21 comes with 1800 mAh battery. This is the same with cameras. Karbonn A21 features 5 mega pixel rear camera and 1.3 mega pixel front camera, while A30 flaunts 8 mega pixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and 1.3 mega pixel front camera.
It´s now needless to say A30 is superior than A21. But the price difference between the two is not that wide. Karbonn A21 costs Rs 19,500, whereas A30 comes with a price tag of Rs 20,500.
“All Karbonn mobiles go through extensive testing at the research and development department before they are introduced in the market,” said Devsare, assuring high quality and durability of the phones. And this is the same with tablets, according to Karbonn Mobiles, which launched a new model of tablet in the domestic market on Tuesday.
Called Smart Tab 10 Cosmic, the tablet comes with 9.7 inch capacitive touch screen with screen resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels, 1.5 Ghz Dual Core Processor, 1GB DDR3 RAM and 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system. Devsare said Cosmic is the second tablet in the world, after Google, to use Jelly Bean operating system.
The tablet comes with various other features like 3G technology, 6000 mAh battery equipped with a turbo charger, which charges battery within 30 minutes, Bluetooth, High Definition Multimedia Interface, G sensor and 3D G sensor for gaming, WiFi, digital front facing camera and a rear 2 mega pixel camera. The Cosmic tablet costs Rs 17,500.
With a strong distributor network that covers almost 90 percent of the districts, ATLI is targeting monthly sales of over 20,000 Karbonn mobiles in Nepal, said Manish Rajbhandari, managing director of ATLI, which is opening ´Karbonn Kafe´ in Narayanghat on Wednesday.
“We are very much committed to increasing sales of Karbonn Mobiles in Nepal this year and providing quality service to our customers,” Devsare said.
