KATHMANDU May 17: Record-setting climber Kami Rita Sherpa has made it to the top of Mt. Everest for the 27th time.
According to the information given by the Manager of Seven Summit Treks, Thaneshwar Guragain, Sherpa reached Mt. Everest’s peak at 8:27 this morning. “He has reached the summit this morning along with his foreign client,” said Guragain.
With this, Sherpa, who had scaled the mountain 26 times before, has broken his own record.
Previously, Apa Sherpa and Phurba Tashi Sherpa Mendewa held a joint record of 21 climbs. Both have retired from mountaineering.
Sherpa, who was born in the Thame village of Solukhumbu, climbed Mt Everest for the first time on May 13, 1994.
