JUMLA, Aug 5: Police brutality on Dr Govinda KC's supporters last month in Jumla had garnered widespread condemnation from across the country. However, authorities of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS), where the incident took place, are still refusing to talk about the incident.

According to KAHS Registrar Bishwaraj Kafle, the institute's executive council meeting has decided to authorize only Vice-chancellor Rajendra Wagle to talk about the issue due to its sensitivity and long-term impact. However, Wagle has refused to make any comment on the matter. He could not be reached in person or through the telephone.

On Friday, Wagle said in an SMS message, “I'll not say anything over the phone. Talk to the registrar." This SMS is against the council's decision that only Wagle can talk about the incident.

“I don't know why the vice-chancellor is refusing to talk. The council meeting had assigned him the sole authority to talk about it and he had also accepted it,” said Registrar Kafle.

The contradicting statements of the registrar and the vice chancellor cast doubt on the coordination between them regarding the investigation into the KAHS incident although Kafle said they would leave no stone unturned in the investigation.
