KATHMANDU, May 21: An executive committee meeting of Janata Samajbadi Party has fallen in limbo as the two chairmen of the party, Mahanta Thakur and Upendra Yadav, have issued two different notices.

Earlier, chairman of JSP, Thakur issued a notice stating that the executive committee meetings of the party scheduled for Saturday and Sunday have been postponed until further notice due to the risk of COVID-19.

Shortly after Thakur’s notice, the other Chairman of JSP, Upendra Yadav issued a press statement maintaining that the meeting had not been postponed. The party has to reach a conclusion after discussing the present developments and the situation in the country, he said. The meeting has not been postponed and all the executive members are urged to attend the meeting at the scheduled date, reads the notice issued by Yadav.

The intraparty rift within JSP has widened as the opposition parties are doing their best to stake their claim to form a new government in their capacity as the largest alliance in parliament.
