Earlier, there was an agreement among eight parties in the current alliance to give JSP the post of vice president as per the power-sharing deal. The election to the post of vice president is scheduled for March 17.

Party insiders say the election of Yadav as vice president will pave the way for JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav to come to the federal parliament. Chairman Yadav is planning to contest the by-election to be held after Yadav’s election as vice president in Bara.

Chairman Yadav earlier lost the election to Janamat Party Chairman Dr CK Raut in Saptari. Since then, he was looking for the opportunity to return to the federal parliament after defeat in the election.
