KATHMANDU, Oct 24: Jhapa XI has reached the final of the ongoing 36th All India Governor's Gold Cup football tournament beating Gangtok Himalayan Sporting Club 1-0 of Gangtok, Sikkim on Monday.
In the semifinal match held at Paljor stadium, Naren Mani Limbu scored the only goal of the match in the injury time which was enough to send Jhapa based club to the final.
This was the first participation for the Jhapa in the tournament that is organized every year by Sikkim Football Association in Gangtok. Jhapa is lone representative club of Nepal after another A division club Manang Marsyangdi withdrew in the last moment.
Jhapa will meet the winner of another semifinal that will be held between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Sikkim Aakraman FC in the summit clash. Second semifinal between two Indian clubs will be held at Paljor stadium on Tuesday.
Jhapa had overcome Kerala State Electricity Board 4-1 in the pre-quarter final while it defeated defending champion ONGC FC of Mumbai in the penalties of the quarterfinal.
The final of the tournament participated by 11 teams will be held on Thursday at Paljor stadium.
