KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Jazeera Airlines, which stopped its flights from and to the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA) due to weather, is going to resume the flights after two months.

The airline had been flying regularly to Kuwait from the GBIA since the airport became commercially operational on May 16, last year. However, Jazeera stopped its flights from December 21. According to the airport’s Spokesperson Subash Jha, Jazeera will resume the international flights from March 9.

According to Jha, the airline will fly three days a week from March 9. He said that he has received information that advance ticket booking has also started for flights from March 9. Jha mentioned that Jazeera will depart from the GBIA every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning at 8:05 AM.

Earlier, Jazeera had assured to start flights from February 2. But that could not happen. Operated as an alternative to the Tribhuvan International Airport, this airport has the capacity to handle 30 to 40 international flights daily. According to Spokesperson Jha, when the airport is not operating at full capacity and is closed, it has to bear a loss of up to three million rupees per month. He said that since there are no international flights, the expenses are managed with the income of domestic flights.
