It’s either Staying focused or Moving on

Dear Sadichha, I am a 15-year-old girl from Pokhara. I aim to become a successful film actor one day. But people around me don’t seem to encourage me whenever I say so.  They say it is not going to come true and I don’t understand why they say so. Whenever I ask my parents about acting and getting into movies, they simply smile back to me with no answers. I like watching films and I have watched many. I would like to become an actor in a good movie. But is it very difficult to become one?

Dear Sadichha,

I am a 15-year-old girl from Pokhara. I aim to become a successful film actor one day. But people around me don’t seem to encourage me whenever I say so.  They say it is not going to come true and I don’t understand why they say so. Nothing comes easy in life. Challenges are everywhere, but you need to have a strong sense of desire for success and work in that direction. You are just 15. You are young and it is good to aim high in life. I suggest you take up acting classes on the side along with your studies. Formal education is very important. After school, get yourself enrolled in drama and acting classes. See how you feel about that. We often get attracted to things we see around us but once you do some homework and get involved, only then you will know if you are really made for it. So, go for it and see for yourself. If you find yourself enjoying it and see yourself progressing then definitely go for acting and movies as it is a growing industry.

Dear Sadichha,

I am a 27-year-old woman. I am currently working at a company in Kathmandu. I have been working there for the past two years now. I like my work and my colleagues, but I find my boss rude and intimidating. In
everyday meeting, he seems rude and complains about the work which I find very unreasonable. I try clarifying, but it is of no avail. I am frustrated now. I am thinking of applying for a new job. But the work environment and colleagues keep me away from looking out for a new job. What do you think I should do?

If you really like the job and what you are doing and if you can avoid your boss, I suggest you do that. It’s just been two years that you have started working there and I don’t think it’s a smart thing to leave all of that just because of a person. You can also talk to your boss one-on-one and clarify things with him. Ask him what it is that he is not happy with. Communication should solve any existing misunderstanding. However, if you still feel like you wouldn’t want to work where the work environment and boss is not good, do feel free to look for other options. Many organizations regularly post job vacancies on various online platforms. You can start looking at those during your free time and start applying to the ones you are interested in.

Dear Sadichha,

I am a 30-year-old guy from Kathmandu. I am dating a girl, four years younger to me. We have been going out for the past one and a half years now. She recently informed me that she is getting married and I was shocked. I tried to ask her about the marriage but she did not answer
my questions. I am trying to figure out what actually went wrong in our relationship but I cannot find any strong reason. She has changed her number and left for India; perhaps for her marriage. I don’t know what I shall do to get my answers for her betrayal?

In life, you can only move forward. So, stop thinking about where you went wrong and what you did wrong. I think you did deserve an explanation from her. But life works in its own way at times. If she has gone to the lengths of changing her number then I don’t see the point of you lingering around. I know it is difficult to move on from relationships that meant so much, but moving on is the only way to move forward in life. Spend some quality time with close friends and family members and don’t be alone thinking about what mistakes you made. In fact, it might not be you at all. She might have faced a problem or maybe she didn’t take the relationship seriously from the beginning itself. There can be a lot of different reasons, but you should not dwell over it too much. If you need a break to clear your mind, I suggest you do that and then start afresh. However, do move on.

Dear Sadichha,

I am 22-year-old girl currently studying business in one of the colleges of Kathmandu. I aspire to become Miss Nepal. Since you have also successfully won the crown in the past, please let me know the important guidelines that one need to know to compete for the pageant. What qualities are highly considered and what does it take to win the crown?

I am happy to hear that you have an interest in Miss Nepal. There are no fixed formulas for winning the crown and different individuals will have different answers to your questions. However, I feel like there is no shortcut to success so you will need to put in a 100 percent effort every day to get to the top. Come to Miss Nepal with an open mind and a mind eager to learn. Remember that we can always be better. Small improvements count a lot, not just in Miss Nepal but in life as well. Consistency is the key. So, come with a mentality to learn from Miss Nepal and then with the right amount of hard work, dedication and persistence, you can walk home with the crown.
