KATHMANDU, Feb 4: Dahal-Nepal faction chairman of Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the notion that the current tension is because of differences between Dahal and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is an “utter misinterpretation”.
Speaking at the general strike organized in Kathmandu on Thursday, Dahal said it is an issue of protecting the democracy attained after decades of struggle. “People interpret this as a battle between Prachanda and KP Oli but it is not true because people of different political beliefs and all political parties have come together against this unconstitutional move by the government,” he said. “The civil society has taken to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the government. It will be wrong to take it as a difference between Dahal-Nepal and Oli.”

Dahal said that it was a fight for the rights of each and every Nepali citizen and should be understood as such. “It is ironic that the one who is against the ideology of democracy is stating that they will organize a rally. “The rally one KP Oli will organize will be nothing but a pancha rally. The prime minister has enforced the worst form of regression,” he said.
He requested the public to support the strike although they might face inconvenience because of it.
