Iran won’t take part in ‘one-sided talks with US under threat’ – Foreign Ministry

TEHRAN, July 26: Tehran will never take part in one-sided negotiations with the US under threat, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Wednesday. The comments appeared to be a reaction to US President Donald Trump’s statement on Tuesday that he is ready to “make a real deal” with Iran, Reuters said. “America should forget forever the idea of one-sided negotiations under the shadow of a threat,” Qassemi was quoted by Tasnim news agency as saying. Iran has also filed an official letter of objection to the Swiss embassy in Tehran, which oversees US diplomatic relations in the Islamic Republic, IRNA said, citing Qassemi. The letter reportedly concerned a speech made by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Sunday in which he compared Iran’s leaders to a “mafia.”
