KATHMANDU, May 7: The Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) and internet service provider companies have agreed to remove unorganized wires within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) from Monday.

In a discussion held on Sunday between NTA, representatives of internet service provider companies and KMC, the metropolis said that the authority and internet service provider companies are ready to remove the mess of entangled wires in the metropolitan city area from Monday.

According to KMC Police Superintendent Manoj Lamichhane, the messy wires in Maitighar and New Road areas will be removed from 8 AM on Monday.

The KMC had given a 15-day deadline to the authority and internet service providers to remove the unorganized wires within May 10.

The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology had issued a circular to the local governments across the country, including KMC, not to remove wires to prevent service interruption. After that, the metropolis called the concerned stakeholders and discussed the matter of removing the wire messes.

Lamichhane said that if the concerned bodies do not remove the wire by May 10, the KMC is preparing to remove it by itself. He said, "However, during the talks, the concerned parties agreed to remove the wires from tomorrow.”
