KATHMANDU, March 9: An International Vegetarian Congress and Vegetarian Festival is going to be organized in Kathmandu from March 10.
Nepal Vegetarian Association and International Vegetarian Union are jointly organizing the Congress and Festival under the theme 'Practice Compassion, Live a Healthy Lifestyle', said Association Vice-Chairperson, Krishna Gurung.

People from more than 30 countries including America, Egypt, Thailand, Malaysia, China, Indonesia and India would participate in the congress. Nepal is organizing the congress for the first time.
Working papers on different issues including peace, non-violence and human health would be presented in the two-day congress. Association General Secretary Suresh Sharma said that lifestyle of vegetarians would be discussed and interpreted in a scientific way on the occasion.
The main objective of the congress is to create public awareness regarding importance of vegetarian diet. Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare, Thamamaya Thapa, who is following the vegetarian lifestyle for the past 20 years, is scheduled to inaugurate the congress.
