Interaction on solar net metering

KATHMANDU, Aug 23:  Energy Development Council (EDC) organized an interaction on ‘Solar Net Metering -- Current State of Policy and Guideline’ in Kathmandu on Wednesday. Raju Maharjan, senior divisional engineer of Ministry of Energy, Water Resource & Irrigation, and Ramji Bhandari, director of Energy Efficiency and Loss Reduction Department of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), were the panelists of the program. Speaking at the program, Member of Parliament Basanta Kumar Nembang assured that the government will help to promote solar net metering and provide needful help will preparing policy and implementing net metering. Similarly, Kulman Ghising, managing director of NEA, said that net metering is in priority of the government. "We see each house as a powerhouse and each village is an energy village. Net metering billing system is currently under discussion. It is yet to be approved by the NEA Board," he said.
