Insurgency-era bomb found beneath highway

JANAKPUR, Feb 24: Several mines and explosives planted by Maoists on highway here during the insurgency have yet to be removed.



On Tuesday security team searching for landmines and explosives found an explosive device two meters below the road surface along the black-topped Janakpur-Dhalkebar highway. A team lead by Inspector Yadav Raj Khanal is working to defuse the device.



The road section is near Sapahi VDC-7, the village of President Ram Baran Yadav.



The device has been placed in a clay pot and is connected with a five-meter wire.
