Indian national arrested from Rautahat for alleged involvement in robbery

RAUTAHAT, June 19: An Indian national, who is said to be allegedly involved in robbery in the border area of Nepal and India has been arrested along with weapons from Rautahat.


Police said that the arrested individual is identified as Monu Kumar Jaiswal, 20, of Baswariya-2, Ghorasahan Gram Panchayat, East Champaran, Motihari district in Bihar, India.

It is reported that Jaiswal has also been listed in the ‘most wanted’ list of the Indian Police.

Police said that Jaiswal was arrested from Maulapur-7, Rautahat, along with a pistol and two rounds of bullets.


According to Alija Giri, spokesperson and deputy superintendent of police (DSP) of the District Police Office, an investigation has been started after filing a case against Jaiswal on charges related to possession of arms and ammunition, theft, robbery and murder.


Earlier on June 4, an employee was shot on the road in Pathara Buddharam, Maulapur Municipality-6. Arbind Kumar Das, 24, of Baudhimai Municipality-8 was shot while on his way to deposit cash at Rastriya Banijya Bank (RBB). DSP Giri confirmed that Jaiswal was arrested during a search operation and further investigation into the incident is on.
