KATHMANDU, Jan 29: Indian Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee has said the Nepali Maoists abandoned arms and violence-based politics on India’s advice, Kantipur FM said. In an interview with Gulf-based Al-jazeera television on Wednesday, Mukherjee said India has been working to bring peace to its neighborhood and the world. He said he had his role in bringing the Nepali parties and the Maoists to negotiations and making them sign the 12-point agreement in 2006. This is the first time anyone from Indian government has officially affirmed Indian role in the signing of the historic agreement.
