India halts road construction on border

DAMAK, Aug 1: The Indian side has stopped construction of its road project after Nepali authorities raised the issue of road construction in Khujaragachi of Jhapa encroaching on border.

CDO of Jhapa Gehanath Bhandari said his Indian counterpart had sent him a letter saying that the road will be constructed under mutual consent.[break]

CDO Bhandari had held talks with his Indian counterpart a week ago regarding the encroachment on international border pillars no. 34 and 35 while constructing the road by India.

The Indian side was constructing road under its border area development program since a month ago not giving a hoot about international border with Nepal.
