India donates 50 tons of corrugated sheets to Nepal

KATHMANDU, July 10: Indian government has decided to donate 50 tons of galvanized corrugated sheets to help Nepal in its rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts. The value of this consignment is about Rs 4.5 million, according to a statement issued by Indian Embassy in Nepal.



The corrugated sheets have been manufactured by Steel Authority of India Limited, a Government of India Enterprise. They will be used for building temporary shelters.

"These are priority goods for the earthquake affected areas in Nepal, especially, in view of the ongoing monsoon season," said the statement.


Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae handed over the documents related to the consignment to Home Secretary Surya Prasad Silwal at Singha Durbar during a meeting held on July 10. The corrugated sheets will be soon transferred to a government godown for storage and distribution.
