India accords utmost priority to BIMSTEC: Minister Singh

KATHMANDU, Aug 29: Indian Minister of State for External Affairs Dr V K Singh has said that India has always taken BIMSTEC as its top priority.

Addressing the ministerial-level meeting of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) on Wednesday in Kathmandu, Minister Singh said, “India accords utmost priority to BIMSTEC as it fulfills India's foreign policy priority of "Neighborhood First" and "Act East.”



With the completion of 21 years, he said BIMSTEC is at a critical juncture and in that regard reiterated India's sincere and abiding commitment to work with all BIMSTEC Member States for a safe, strong and prosperous Bay of Bengal Region.

He conveyed his gratitude to the Government of Nepal for their warm welcome and hospitality.
