KATHMANDU, Jan 29: The local administration clamped curfew for an indefinite period in Jaleshwar town of Mahottari district at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Our correspondent Suresh Kumar Yadav reported from neighboring town of Janakpur that the administration imposed the curfew after clashes between police and demonstrators staging street protests for the last two weeks against a government decision to shift administrative offices from Jaleshwar to Bardibas.

At least 12 people were injured in the clash on Thursday, one seriously. A protester, Navin Mishra, who sustained serious head injuries in the police action, has been admitted in a local hospital.

Three people, including a lawmaker from Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP), Ganesh Nepali, started a fast-unto-death on Wednesday against the government decision.
