Major streets in the downtown of the city are being blacktopped, marked and renovated these days.

People hope that the government agencies can also best utilize the lockdown period for the beautification of footpaths and the arrangement of central medians. They view that Kathmandu metropolis can also look after sanitation, drainage and floodwater passage during the extended lockdown period.

As expected, the government today extended the nationwide lockdown for another week, until April 15 in view of rising coronavirus cases. During this lockdown, any sort of mobility is restricted. Except for emergency, public service delivery is also halted.

Unlike in usual days, Kathmandu is bizarrely silent. Streets wear deserted look. Atmosphere is clean as air pollution is plummeting. Clear blue sky and visible snow clad mountains are some of the views that one can witness from Kathmandu.
