Kumar Karki, chairman of the United National Squatters Front, said, “The metropolis has not opened the door to negotiations and discussions. Until and unless our demands are fulfilled, we will continue with our protest in different areas including Baluwatar.”

He added that the mayor of Kathmandu metropolis gained votes with the reassuring words of his song titled ‘Gariba Ko Chameli Boldine Koi Xaina’ , but the commitments to ensure the voices of the underprivileged have not yet been fulfilled.

Earlier, the Kathmandu Metropolis ran a dozer in the squatter settlement in Thapathali. However, there was a clash between the metropolitan police and the squatters. Since then, the squatters have been protesting against the metropolis.
