In a first, Aiselukharka Rural Municipality starts recruiting police

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: In the first of its kind in the district, Aiselukharka Rural Municipality of Khotang has started recruiting village police for what it said to conduct daily activities in an effective way.

KATHMANDU, Feb 8: In the first of its kind in the district, Aiselukharka Rural Municipality of Khotang has started recruiting village police for what it said to conduct daily activities in an effective way.


The rural municipality's chief, Bishwanath Niraula, informed Republica that vacancies have been announced for the positions of three police personnel. The police personnel will be mobilized to maintain law and order in the rural municipality, manage traffic system and track illegal activities in the local areas.

“We are facing so many problems in our areas including tracking entry and exit of overloaded vehicles and managing traffic. That's why we are hiring police on our own,” said Niraula. 


The local unit is planning to assign Nepal Army and Nepal Police to select the municipal police. The aspiring candidates have to go through a physical test, a written exam and an interview. Selected candidates will be informed about their jurisdiction, rights and responsibilities.A Nepali citizen aged between 18- 35 years old can apply for the police job. Those selected for the job will each get Rs 12,000 as a monthly salary.
