He shared, "We have imported 5,000 kilolitre of petrol and 1,000 kilolitre of kerosene through the pipeline as a test. The quality of petroleum products brought through the pipeline is being examined."

Necessary preparation for the regular import of petroleum products through the underground duct is underway, informed Acharya. "Though the import of the fossil fuel was expected to be regularized through the pipeline from January 2025, it will be late for a few days due to inadequate preparation,” he said.

Under the expansion project, the Indian Oil Corporation had constructed two petrol tanks with 4,100 kilolitre capacity at Amlekhgunj depot while two transmix tanks to store 250 kilolitre and 24 full automatic loading way re-fillers, pump houses and lab.

Likhita Infrastructure Pvt Ltd had received the contract to complete all infrastructures within 2023, but construction activities of the pipeline were completed only a few days ago, added Acharya.
